Local Transportation

The San Francisco Bay Area affords both beautiful natural environments and culturally rich scenes for visitors. Stanford and Palo Alto are located 34 miles south of San Francisco. Caltrain is the local commuter rail service that runs between San Jose and San Francisco. The closest train station is the Downtown Palo Alto station. Stanford's free Marguerite Shuttle meets almost all trains from the Palo Alto station between 6:00am and 7:45pm. (The Palo Alto Caltrain station is also next to the Sheraton/Westin).

To get around Stanford and to move back and forth between Palo Alto and Stanford, you can use Stanford's free shuttle service, the Stanford Marguerite.
